He comes from an unwanted litter, I couldn't resist his cuteness and adopted him. My boyfriend named him Ægir after a Giant from the Norse mythology.

My goodness, this is a fantastic picture! I absolutely love the lighting. The contrast between the dark background and the light outline of the rat really pulls the rodent into focus.

It's also very nice to have made the rat almost fade into the background along the edges; this pulls the rat's head into even more focus. In two words? Great composition.

The only thing I could really say to help you improve and perhaps create a better picture next time is to bring the whiskers into focus. Being slightly blurred, they appear a little "off" near the sharp focus of the fur on the head; although I suppose it must have been tricky to get this little guy to sit still for a photo
