Fenrir, irish agouti rex rattie, born March, the 8th 2010
I adopted him so Ęgir and Arkanys can have a young friend to play with. He comes from an unwanted litter from a rescue doe who was meant to feed a snake... The snake didnt eat her and she gave birth to 9 babies two day after she has been rescued. She has remained aggressive due to the high stress caused by the stress but her pups are just adorable The girl who rescued Fenrir's mother did a great job with the babies, they adore people
Fenrir is a doll, the most playful rat I've ever had. He fears nothing, loves everybody, takes food in everyone's hand, adores licking people's hands and always climbs on my boyfriend and me. He already loves us to death and would do anything to stay on us the whole day, playing with our hands.
He is a gorgeous and very very friendly little boy

Rats make wonderful pets, they are very smart and sweet, they have a very similar behavior as dogs (and they are as clean as cats and they play as cats aswell).
If you take a rat someday, please take two from the same sex though : rats are highly social animals who absolutely need a rattie friend to play with else they can develop some serious behavioral issues
Only baby rats might poop all over your hands since they can't control the way they poop when they are young. All my ratties over 2 months and a half old are pretty clean (they can put a drop of pee on your hand though, since it's a social code for them to tell you're part of their group. Not all of them do this, but I've got some ratties who can't help doing it).
Rats need large cages with shelves as they like to climb, suited food (14% proteins and 4% fat maximum), they have to get out of their cage at least one or two hours per day and must be kept on hemp bedding or other non-aggressive bedding (pine shavings are an absolute no-no as they contain phenols which can severely damage their respiratory system).
Males tend to be quite calm and cuddly while females adore to play and to explore everything, so it's a matter of taste
Absolutely amazing
Thank you
