Helyan - himalayan seal point dumbo rex, born October 4th, 2008 - deceased September 25th, 2010
This rattie was a rehomed rat, his previous owner couldn't keep her rats anymore so I adopted two of them; Krokus and Helyan (she had very beautiful and rare rats, nobody wanted to adopt Krokus -black berkshire standard- and Helyan because they weren't "original" enough compared to the other ones... )
Helyan was a weird rat, he was a nice little guy but he was autistic so his behavior was very different from the other rats', I had to learn to understand how he tried to communicate since he lacked the normal ratties social codes. He could be a cuddly boy sometimes and lick our fingers but he tended to be scared without any reason or look at something invisible for hours. I had to hand feed him for over 3 months after I adopted him since he wouldn't eat because he was afraid of other rats. The craziest part of it is that he loved to sleep with them but was scared when they moved. And he let himself die each time I tried to separate him from the other rats, so I had no choice but to feed him where he used to hide. He learnt to trust people and other rats though and finally became quite curious... not a playful rattie but he seemed to enjoy life much more than he used to at the beginning He also often asked for cuddles and seemed to be very happy every time he saw me and I talked to him
Unfortunately I had to put him to sleep because of cancer...
