Thor, bareback spotted russian blue dumbo rex rat, born inbetween october 2006 and october 2007 (I don't know his real age since he was a rescue rat) - passed away April the 15th 2010 during his sleep... Good bye my little friend

This little guy was about to be killed by a breeder who wanted to get rid of all his breeding stock (over 60 rats).
He comes from the same rescue mission as my Bélial.
All of them suffered from several diseases, many of them died because they had suffered too much and couldn't be healed anymore.
I took six of these ratties home as a foster family and adopted two of them (Bélial and Thor). The four other ones have found great families, some of the ratties from the same rescue mission are still up for adoption in other foster families and animal shelters.

Thor is blind and suffers from chronical respiratory troubles.
Although he was afraid of humans and "roared" when breathing when I took him home, he learnt to trust human beings and is now in much better health condition.
He couldn't move because he had lived in a very small box for over two years, he now runs everywhere and plays with my hands and his rattie friends.
He also can breathe without making noise anymore.
He loves to explore the house although he cannot see anything ^^
I would have NEVER imagined such a hurt rattie would heal that well and would learn to love humans...

He's one of my oldest ratties, a very cute boy with very funny expressions

I love the way he looks here, he seems to be an old sorcerer or something similar ^^

Thor was very beautiful. You did well to tell his story is touching to know that you managed to tame and he had a late happy life. I always wanted to cuddle and educate a rat. They are so smart and so funny and endearing attitudes. I only wish they live so little time ...

what an amazing picture, and such a gorgeous story behind him. his story brought a tear to my eye, reminding me of all my adopted rescue ratties who have now passed.

Really cool look! His eyes are amazing, altho blind he looks likes he sees right thru you (which he probably is). Thor is probably in Valhalla now, giving the fact that he fought for his life 3 or 4 years.
